Christmas at historic South Church

Saturday, December 5, 2009       7:30pm

A freewill offering was taken to help bring the troops home for the holidays!  $3000 was given by the generous people who came out to the concert, and South Church matched that donation, bringing the total to $6000!

Master of Ceremonies for the evening was the inspiring Jerry Kristafer, host of the WDRC-FM morning show.  His humor and heart felt appeal made a great impact on the audience.  Thank you Jerry for lending a hand.

Operation Home for the Holidays...

  1. And thank you to Governor Rell for taking up the cause of our Connecticut men and women in uniform.  These 700 soldiers will now be able to come home and spend the holidays with their families.  As Jerry Kristafer so eloquently put it, these soldiers are not just nameless and faceless anymore.  They are sons and daughters, and brothers and sisters, and mommies and daddies.  We need to bring them home for Christmas.

The beauty of the meeting house, the warm Christmas lights, the spirit of Christmas, and the music of the season came together in a magical way to inspire and encourage many.  Many, many thanks to Pastor Adam and to all the volunteers.  South Church is a wonderful, community minded congregation.  Please consider visiting their Sunday services and see for yourself what a wonderful place this is.

Other organizations providing service throughout the year were also featured.  Please read more about them and volunteer your time and resources to help them out.  They would be most appreciative.

Faith Care Wellness Center offers free medical and dental care to the greater Hartford Community, while also providing spiritual guidance and prayer.  South Church donates space to this much needed service.

Manna (Hands on Hartford) is a food bank distributing food to the poorest in Hartford's inner city.  One branch of their work is housed in South Church.

Salvation Army always there to help when help is needed.

The Artists Collective celebrating diversity in arts and culture.

South Park Inn  helping homeless people help themselves.

Foodshare feeding the hungry this holiday season.
